Mahjong can feel intimidating—but it doesn’t have to be.

I teach American Mahjong in a way that’s clear, approachable, and actually fun. My classes are designed to break the game down step-by-step so you can learn confidently in a relaxed, social setting.

Based in Franklin, I offer group classes and private events throughout Brentwood and the greater Nashville area.

Mahjong Classes Offered: 

Mahjong 101 — Introduction to American Mahjong

Beginner Class

A two-hour class covering the full foundation of the game.

You’ll learn:

  • tiles, terminology, and rules
  • how a round flows
  • how to build a winning hand
  • beginner strategy

We’ll play guided rounds so you can apply what you learn in real time.

Best for: complete beginners or anyone new to Mahjong


Mahjong 201 — NMJL Card & Strategy

Intermediate Class

Ready to level up? This class focuses on how to actually play well.

You’ll learn:

  • how to read the NMJL card
  • how to choose and pivot hands
  • strategy patterns and decision-making
  • Offensive and Defensive Moves

Includes guided gameplay with coaching.

Best for: players who know the basics and want more confidence at the table

Complete Mahjong Workshop (101 + 201)

A three-hour overview of both the basics and an introduction to the NMJL card.

This is a great option if you want a single-session introduction, but for the best learning experience, most students take 101 and 201 separately.

Do you have between 4 and 20 players? I also host private Mahjong events throughout Franklin, Brentwood, and Nashville.
